WAYS TO WEAR: RIPPED JEANS

Its easy to fall into the monotony of wearing an item the same way or look at your wardrobe and think "I HAVE NOTHING TO WEAR!!!"
Ways to Wear is all about super easy styling tips and advice.
SHOP THE LOOK!ONE // TWO // THREE

I love the look of jeans slashed at the knees and the great thing about the ripped jean trend is that anyone can get in on it and go DIY revamping a pair of jeans, remember these? However ripped denim can sometimes look almost scruffy and the easiest thing would be to throw them on with a good ole tee/sweater and trainers for that grungy, everyday look.

If you want to look chic but still relaxed team them with a tailored blouse, boots and finish with a longline cardigan or duster coat, it will look casual but with a little effort put into it. Add a leather jacket, some glam heels and these jeans will work for a night out too! See?! Super easy.

Do you have any suggestions on what you would like to see styled next? Let me know in the comments box!

THE WEEKEND MUSE #2: A/W INVESTMENT PIECES

Did you remember to turn your clocks back an hour? Yep the days are gonna get shorter and darker earlier but are you A/W ready? Well if your not here are my 12 wardrobe essentials I think are worth investing this season. Yes I'm here to inspire a shopping spree #sorrynotsorry

01. OVERSIZED SWEATER Is the go-to piece for layering this A/W.  In my opinion the slouchier and chunkier the better. The oversized sweater will allow you to keep wearing your summer pieces for a little while longer or with jeans and some trainers for your more casual days.

02. DENIM SHIRT A white shirt is a definite wardrobe staple but for an A/W update go for an darker wash denim shirt. I wear one all year round tbh, but for the colder seasons I love wearing them with leather trousers, skirts etc. Definitely a versatile piece that can be dressed up or down.

03. TURTLENECKS Go with everything. I'm not joking! Layer them under shirts or over dresses and you will be reaching for them as much as you reach for your oversized sweaters. Uniqlo have some bomb ones!

04. LEATHER JACKET Are the ultimate timeless piece for any wardrobe. Yes there are a few great faux leather versions out on the high street but invest in a good leather jacket and it will last forever.

05. FEDORA I know hats aren't for everybody but I can't live without them! If you feel like they don't suit you don't give up on them, it may be you haven't found the right one! There are so many shapes to fedoras and I feel like they finish off any simple outfit and give it an edgy look.

06. TRAINERS Their not only for wearing to the gym or for your "cba days", for a more on trend look team them with tailored trousers and knitted dresses.

07. JEANS I love mom jeans. I know, I'm sorry if I talk about them too much but if you find a style that works for you then stick with it and mine is "The Mom Jean". They have the perfect cut, not too tight and not too large and I think they suit every shape! So if you haven't already, try them!

08. SHIFT DRESS I love this dress by Monki! Paired with the court shoes and the leather jacket its the perfect ootn and as it gradually gets colder its a great base for layering with the denim shirt, turtle neck and boots! A LBD is a classic piece and can be styled in so many ways!
*TIP* Mix up your accessories and you have a fail-safe item for any event!

09. ANKLE & OVER-THE-KNEE BOOTS You can never have too many boots when it comes to A/W but its especially good to have an ankle boot like these ones from H&M they go with practically everything! And over the knee boots are on everyones wish list this season whether heeled, flat, leather or suede you need them in your wardrobe!
*TIP* Ankle boots with a higher heel or embellishment add a dressed up touch to allow transition from ootd to ootn.

10. THE COAT A casual, slightly oversized coat with masculine vibes, which you know I love, is a bargain at £24.99 from H&M, I've seen this coat in person and the quality is amazing for such an inexpensive price. Its selling out quick get it or regret it!
*TIP* Use a skinny belt to create a more feminine silhouette and accentuate your waist.

11. COURT SHOES Every woman should have a pair of heels comfortable enough for the day and chic enough for the night.

12. THE SHOPPER This Monki faux leather shopper is a simple looking bag, but I think thats what makes it look very effective, and when your ready fold it down and carry it like a clutch.

What are your A/W wardrobe essentials?

FUR COAT X TURTLENECK

FEDORA: PRIMARK
TURTLENECK: PRIMARK
FUR COAT: H&M

Your going to hear a lot of UK bloggers bang on about the weather. Its what we do. Its a source of conversation for us Brits and I am no exception. The cold really has been hitting us this week, enough for me to bring out my cosy fur coat and one of many turtle neck tops that I own, they are definitely a fall/winter staple for me.

My coat is an old purchase from H&M and what drew me to it was the unusual grey colour and its collarless neckline, I wore it all of last year winter and I intend on doing the same this season, however I've got my eye on this stunning one from MISSGUIDED and M&S. Fur is bang on trend for A/W but if your not about a full on fur coat there are still plenty of ways to incorporate it into your wardrobe, why not try a fur stole you can add to any coat, a faux fur clutch or to really channel your inner eskimo a fur hat!

These boyfriend jeans from New Look and I have a a love/hate relationship. Ever bought an item and then some time later you though "I really don't like the way these fit/look" but it was too late (or you were too lazy) to return them to the store? Well that was the situation with these jeans only fast forward a year later and I put these on without thinking and was pleasantly surprised, so not bad New Look. Mom jeans are still bae though...

When it comes to footwear I am loving loafers! I don't know how I'm gonna part with these ASOS beauties once I've worn them to death and even though its kinda freezing outside I don't mind exposing my ankles just so I can wear them!

With Christmas around the corner the weather is only going to get colder, so I officially declare it "fur season"Yassssss!

THE WEEKEND MUSE #1: AUTUMNAL INSPIRATIONS

All images taken from my Pinterest : Collage made my me.

So things have been a little quiet over here since I posted my London Fashion Week Posts, which went down really well and had a great response, so thank you to everyone who read that!!!
If you remember before LFW I spoke about a few ideas I had for my blog, one of them is a new segment titled "The Weekend Muse" a kind of word play on "The Weekend News". Working a relentless 9-5 means the weekends are the best time if not the only time I can really unwind, get my life in order, catch up with blogs/social media, dedicate some time to pamper myself and blog!

What can you expect from "The Weekend Muse"?
Well like any muse it will try to be inspirational and it could feature a style advice post, quick write-up of my weekend beauty routines with tips and tricks, trend forcast, or a chance to fill you guys in on my week (if I ever do something interesting lol) and be an insight to what will feature on the blog that coming week in the form of a inspo collage, which is what todays post is about!

Autumn is here, Winter is coming....
I don't know about you but the changeover from summer wardrobe to autumn/winter has commenced! Which means reorganising my closet, pulling out my knitwear from hiding and putting my bikinis into hibernation. I recently jumped back on the Pinterest bandwagon, I don't even know why I stopped its so fun, I've been pinning away like mad this week! If your on pinterest feel free to follow me
Colour palettes ranging from khaki/military green, mustard yellows, deep reds and aubergine are all over the high streets and it goes without saying neutral tones, denim and black are here to stay for another season and just what you need to build your A/W wardrobe, if you haven't already started!

For more fash inspo you can follow me on Pinterest HERE or on Tumblr HERE.

And guess what guys I also set up a new Facebook page!!!!! Please Like and keep supporting! Planning on a blog giveaway for my followers because your all so amazing! But you won't know about it unless you like my Facebook page!!!! ---> https://www.facebook.com/ThisisLavinya <--- Thank you all! xxx

LFW DAY 3 - OOTD + ROUND UP

From left to right: Frankie, Linda and Gary
BAG: H&M

Sunday 15th September aka day 3 of LFW aka the funnest day ever!

Picking my ootd I had one concern in mind "comfortability" I had nearly boiled to death on day 1 and the soles of my feet where on fire on day 2 so for day 3 I had to be comfortable! This scuba material sweater from Choies is so soft and was warm enough to wear without a jacket, I was drawn to the print as its like nothing I have seen on the high street before and just had to have it - First off anything with a high waist is a yes for me and I love the length and drop of these culottes from Dorothy Perkins, now to find them in white... - Do you guys remember me first talking about my heels, probably not, so let me link it here "Cant afford it? Dupe it!" perhaps I should do more of those? They resemble the Alexander Wang Freja boots and were £8.99 like how can you fault it???

Day 3 was really quiet on the show front, I mean there were shows just I wasn't invited to them lol! Sooooo I met up with Jen and Gary in Holborn to enjoy some Nandos! We were soon joined by Linda (the funniest person you will ever meet!) and Frankie and from that moment on for the rest of the day I never stopped laughing. It is so nice and rare to meet people for the first time and instantly have a great connection and just have such a good time together.

After we finished at Nandos we made our way to Somerset House for a bit of streetstyle spotting...it was dead. There were photographers waiting to snap people but no one to snap! lol. so we decided to have a shoot of our own! When we were quite finished we made our way to the M.E Hotel to see a show but after queuing for what seemed like forever we were ushered inside the hotel, along the lobby and then just as we were about to enter the lifts, we were turned away!

So with our first rejection of the day we decided to cut our losses and make our way to Camden for the launch of London based fashion house Musée Noir AW14 collection. Think edgy urban street wear, think Kanye West's wardrobe, lots of leather and a stylish twist on your everyday essentials. Unfortunately my phone/camera battery died so I was unable to get a lot of shots of the collection but check out Gary's post for more pics and even a vlog of the entire day! ThePlasticBoy.com

I did find some random photos of the night on my phone though....

To say we had fun is an understatement. Good music. Good drinks. Good company. Good vibes only. Thanks guys for hanging out :) and thanks to Jen & Frankie who always let me tag along hehe both this year and last year, I would not have experienced nearly half the things I have if it wasn't for you both xxx

I guess that rounds up LFW! Day 3 was my last day in attendance I decided to forgo day 4 as it was my birthday and just wanted to have the day to myself and have a lie in lol. Posting up my LFW experience in its entirety has been hard work! But I hoped you have all enjoyed my posts, I have loved putting it all together and reading all your comments, it really makes my day!

Its goodbye til next year fashion week!

LFW DAY 2: BERNARD CHANDRAN AND DORA ABODI

On day 2 of LFW the Fashion Scout catwalks took us down a journey of mythology and Gothic mystery, check out these designers who give the definition of "fashion statement" new meaning!

BERNARD CHANDRAN

I felt like there were so many ideas in one collection, monochrome, vibrant reds, oranges and yellow and demure shades of pink and nude. The Malaysian designer created his SS15 collection "Venus In The Daytime" for the "urban goddess". The collection modernises the classic style of flowing Grecian gowns, chiffon dresses with digitally printed images of cherubims, soft pink leather and the unexpected use of stripes and polka dots against neon colours. I particularly like the faux breastplates and clean lines making some pieces take on a  slight androgynous, which I think represented a goddess's strength behind her beauty. Very eclectic collection but fit for a modern day goddess.

DORA ABODI

Dora Abodi SS15 - Image Source: POP PR

Transylvanian Dora Abodi presented a dark, goth look for her SS15 collection. Abodi's signature style is described as "baroque futurism" fusing classic art and religious symbolism with extraterrestrial aesthetics and technology. There was a blend of metallic royal blues, gold, silver and monochrome, adorned with elaborate embroidery, embellishments, intricate patterns and her signature symbol, The Twin Unisus. Heavily lined smokey eyes, jet black sleek wigs and horns added to the drama! Trust me seeing these maleficent-esque horns go down the runaway was all types of fierce and can we have a moment for Abodi's silver x gold and the all black leather x silk bomber jacket, I need a ready to wear version of my own in a size 10 please!

One more post on the way to round up my LFW SS15 experience, I promise one more! ^_^
