LFW DAY 1: JAMIE WEI HUANG, ONES TO WATCH AND HEMA KAUL

As well as soaking up the creative vibes around Somerset house I also attended a few off schedule shows at the Freemasons Hall, Covent Garden, thanks to tickets from POP PR. Continue reading for all the low down on day 1 LFW shows including beautiful pictures and video footage of these designers collections....

There were oversized fluffy knits, bomber jackets and baggy shorts mixed with button up shirts, tailored trousers and floaty skirts. The Jamie Wei Huang SS15 collection was a fusion of sports luxe and boyish tailored pieces, entitled "Metaphysics", a collection inspired by the basic idea of human existence within urban society. The show opened up with vibrant pastel coloured two pieces using textured jacquards, followed by electric blues and emerald greens adorned with leather buckles, satchels and chunky heels that helped balance out the boyish elements of this collection. The unusual blend of different fabrics gave the collection a tailored and fancy finish but still manage to make it look casual and comfy to wear.

ONES TO WATCH
Ones To Watch was directly after the Jamie Wei Huang show so there was no time to mingle, I had to get back out there and queue up for entry to the show! Ones to Watch is a showcase of emerging fashion designers and a fantastic platform that raises these designers profile.
Check out the talented 4 designers that were chosen for this years collaborative showcase:

Channelling a very futuristic vibe (think fifth element) this designer presented a very colourful and playful collection. Cut out swimwear, woven knitwear, fluffy shoes, bubble backpacks, transparent pieces and exaggerated fluffy coverups. All topped off with brightly coloured wigs that complemented the vibrant colour palette of the garments.

KEIKO NISHIYAMA

Japanese born Keiko Nishiyama showed intricate hand drawn prints in her collection. It reminded me of fantasy and fairytale elements. The detail of the clashing prints are bold and yet displayed on floaty shirt dresses, feminine knee length dress and softly structured two pieces. Definite statement garments.

MIN WU

Another futuristic collection but this time Min Wu was was all about ombre colours, puff shoulders and PVC shirts. Min Wu designed her collection with the bold modern woman in mind, exploring the combination of functional materials. The addition of pinstripes break up the cotton candy palette and I particularly love the dip-dyed pinstripe trousers (bottom left).

YOUJA JIN

Although Youjia Jin specialises in womenswear, she has been awarded a top 10 menswear designer award in China. Her collection for Ones to watch featured androgynous suits with a feminie edge and was my favourite collection out of the showcase. If you remember in one of my previous posts here, I shared how much I am loving the influence of menswear designs in womenswear clothing.
This collection featured three main colours white, grey and black were "office wear" was given a revamp. Pleated blazers, intertwined knitwear and draping make her simple designs unique. I could definitely see myself wearing many of the pieces especially the blazer pleated all in one (bottom left) and will definitely be looking out for more of her work.

HEMA KAUL

Hema Kaul was the last show I attended for the day. This is Hema's third season presenting at LFW and it did not disappoint. Hema's designs featured nipped in waists and full skirts as well as figure hugging pieces to complement the female form, beautifully embellished with 3D flowers, sequins and diamantes. Every girly girls dream, watch the full catwalk here

Which was your favourite?
